  • September 2021 - December 2023, Postdoctoral Scientist at the Center for Ocean-Atmospheric Prediction Studies (COAPS) at Florida State University (FSU) with Professor Eric Chassignet.
    • Project: Multi-institution Office of Naval Research (ONR) Task Force Ocean (TFO) grant “Modeling, characterizing, and predicting effects of internal gravity waves on acoustic propagation on basin to global scales”.
  • October 2015 – July 2016, Research Technician for the Bermuda Atlantic Time-series Study (BATS) at the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS), supervised by Rodney Johnson.
    • Project: “The Bermuda Atlantic Time-series Study”, funded by the National Science Foundation
    • Main Activities: BATS expeditions on the R/V Atlantic Explorer. Analysis of water masses, mixed layer depth variability, heat budget, and horizontal transport due to mesoscale processes at BATS.

Fieldwork

  • October 2017, Post-hurricane Nate ocean survey on the NOAA WP-3D “Hurricane Hunter” aircraft in the Gulf of Mexico for deployment of ocean xBT, xCTD and xCP probes.
  • May 2017, Ten days aboard the R/V Walton Smith deploying Autonomous Profiling Explorer (APEX) floats in the Gulf of Mexico.
  • Multiple BATS and Hydrostation “S” expeditions aboard the R/V Atlantic Explorer for CTD profiles, water samples, sediment trap experiments, and deployment of Argo floats.

Outreach

  • 2023 Gulf Coast Hurricane Awareness Tour (NOAA & NWS, May 2023)
    • Communicate with K-12 students and the local community about the role of the ocean in hurricane generation and intensification and raise awareness on hurricane preparedness.
  • Florida State University’s Women in Math, Science, and Engineering (WIMSE) program (April 2022 – Present).
  • Students for Students (Fall 2020)
    • This program connects RSMAS with the community through presentations and lessons given by Graduate students in Miami-Dade schools on marine and atmospheric science topics.
  • Integrated Marine Program and College Training (IMPACT) Program (Summer 2018)
    • The IMPACT Program provides high-school students with low-income and first-generation college-bound the opportunity to study meteorology, oceanography, and ecology, under the supervision of a graduate student for six weeks at the Rosenstiel School (University of Miami).
  • Ocean kids (2017-2019)
    • Yearly events where graduate students from the University of Miami Rosenstiel School share their love for science and ocean conservation with children from under-represented elementary schools.<\sub>
